pubblicò inoltre un disegno della facciata del Palazzo Universitario
come si presentava dopo l’acquisto della casa Frignani e anche una
ricostruzione di come sarebbe potuta diventare se si fosse dato corso al
progetto di Cesare Costa.
Il progetto di una definitiva e completa sistemazione della casa Frigna-
ni non venne realizzato in questo periodo ma ci si limitò, negli anni
successivi, ad eseguire, di volta in volta, quei lavori che si rendevano
necessari per i vari uffici o Istituti e per i Gabinetti di Chimica, Zo-
ologia e Anatomia Comparata, Mineralogia e Geologia. In particolare
nel 1879 tutte le stanze della facciata del Palazzo Universitario erano
occupate al primo piano dal Gabinetto di Fisica e al secondo piano dal
Gabinetto di Zoologia e Anatomia comparata; nello stesso Palazzo era-
no ubicati il Museo di Geologia e Mineralogia, le Scuole per le Facol-
tà di Giurisprudenza e di Scienze fisico-matematiche-naturali, l’Aula
Magna e quella per le riunioni di Facoltà; all’interno della contigua
casa Frignani si trovavano sede gli uffici del Rettorato, di Segreteria e
di Economato, oltre all’Archivio e Protocollo, la Biblioteca consorziale
e la Giuridica.
Gli avvenimenti politici del 1859-1860 e il passaggio dall’amministra-
zione ducale a quella del Regno d’Italia contribuirono a rallentare le
attività di risistemazione del Palazzo: dopo l’impianto del gas illuminante
realizzato nel 1871, due progetti del 29 novembre 1882 e del 12 ottobre
1883 testimoniano una ripresa di interesse per lavori di ampliamento. In

zione dei locali della Biblioteca Universitaria, già collocata nel Palazzo
Universitario fin dal 1779, con sale per la lettura, alcune camere ed un
corridoio con gli scaffali, l’ufficio del bibliotecario. Tra il 1883 e il 1884
fu anche completato l’angolo rientrante che esisteva fra via Università e
corso Canalgrande, prolungando di un’arcata il portico di corso Canal-
grande dopo che il Sindaco aveva concesso, con lettera del 12 ottobre
1882, l’occupazione gratuita del suolo necessario a questi lavori.

a design of the facade of the University Palace as it appeared after the
purchase of Casa Frignani and also a reconstruction of how it could
have been if the project of Cesare Costa had been made real.
The Project, which was to define and complete the arrangement of
Casa Frignani, was not accomplished in those years. Nevertheless, in
the following years the building works occasionally carried out were
limited to the necessary interventions on the various offices or In-
stitutes and for the Studios of Chemistry, Zoology and Comparative
Anatomy, Mineralogy and Geology. In particular in 1879 all the rooms
corresponding to the façade of Palazzo Universitario were occupied
on the first floor by the Studio of Physics and on the second floor by
the Studio of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy. In the same build-
ing there was the Museum of Geology and Mineralogy, the Faculties
of Law and of the Physics-Mathematical-Natural Sciences, the Great
Hall (Aula Magna) and the hall for the meetings of the Faculties. Inside
the neighbouring Casa Frignani, the Rectorate, Secretary and Financial
Administration offices were located, as well as both the Archive and the
Protocol, and the Library of the Consortium and the Legal one.
The political events of 1859-1860 and the transition from the ducal
administration to that of the Kingdom of Italy helped to slow down the
resettlement activities of the Palazzo. After an eye-opening gas layout
from 1871, two projects - dated November 29, 1882 and October 12,
1883 - testify to a decreasing amount of interest for expansion works.

the corner joining via Università and corso Canalgrande was completed,
extending with one arch the portico of corso Canalgrande after the May-

through a letter dated October 12, 1882.
